It is made up of a phospholipid bilayer studded with various protein receptors and gates to react to substances that attach to it and control the entry of substances in it. The function of cell membrane are the following: Control movement of substances - Some substances like water can freely flow in and out of the cell through osmosis. Other substances require channels like potassium or sodium.
